I checked into the hospital on March 28, 2015 at 10am. The doctor broke my water and after that everything happened super fast. I met my beautiful baby girl at 6:14pm. My labor was pretty smooth and painless mostly due to an epidural (thank god) so in the end I feel very lucky and have a healthy baby girl to celebrate.
After an hour long walk at the gym I decided to go on another walk later that night around Bogota with my hubby to pick up some delicious chips and salsa from this Mexican restaurant. On the walk not only did my contractions start to intensify but I also lost my mucous plug or bloody show. I called the doc immediately and he told me to go to the hospital to check my progress. At the hospital, the doc told me "No more walking unless I want to have the baby tonight", so he sent me home to sleep so I would be rested before labor. I checked into the hospital the next morning!
Heading to the gym even though I am having light contractions. The doc recommended I walk as much as possible to help labor progress so that's what I'm doing. Otherwise I will have to be induced which we are trying to prevent.
Designing the nursery was definitely the most difficult task for me. There are so many different, fun ideas and designs that you can choose. I originally wanted an all white nursery with black accents and bright paintings on the wall. I still love this idea but I feel it's a little old for a baby. Considering they are not babies for long, you have to take advantage of it while they are. At least that's what I have been told. That's when I opted to go for more of a nursery theme. I love the blush color for a baby girl especially mixed with golds, silvers, blacks, and whites. Her nursery is pretty big so we wanted to have a fun accent wall to add some pizazz and take away from the big white space. The hubs and I invested in the Oeuf furniture because we plan on having many more babies in the future. We loved the modern design and of course its the best quality and will hold up throughout the years of wear and tear. However, I think the rocking chair is my favorite piece in the whole nursery. I plan on spending many late nights breastfeeding in that chair. It has different breastfeeding positions (Yay!) and I was told by all my mom friends to buy leather. It can be easily wiped clean which apparently is very important because breast milk ends up every where (Not sure how that happens, Scary!) In the end, I love the tranquil feel of the overall nursery. It puts me at ease which is exactly what I was trying to achieve. I think Sophie is going to love her special abode and can't wait to bring her home.
