Since arriving on American soil, I have stuffed my bump with delicious "fall" foods such as a Parisian sandwich with ham, cranberry compote, and baked brie, as well as Panera's amazing turkey, cranberry flatbread with autumn squash soup. The babe and I can't get enough!
My friend Juliana brought me this beautiful cake for my birthday, so naturally this was breakfast today and it was delicious and chocolatey.
I seem to always have the munchies these days but I am eating for two after all. Today, I made this healthy, nutritious snack to cure my hunger in between meals that I thought I would share.
1 slice whole wheat toast 1 ripe avocado olive oil salt/pepper to taste I mashed the avocado with a fork and mixed a little olive oil, salt, and pepper to taste. Then spread on the whole wheat toast and Enjoy! I told you it was easy! Last night, the hubs and I went out for a delicious dinner at The Ugly American Bar and Grille in Bogota, Colombia. I ordered shrimp & grits and a delicious and very bump friendly "mocktail" while the hubs ordered a strong manly bourbon cocktail. Just because you can't have alcohol (although my doc says I can have two glasses a day...) doesn't mean you can't have fun with your beverages. Plus lot's of restaurants offer other alternatives to alcohol. My "mocktail" was crisp and refreshing as well as the ginger being great for expectant mamas so I wanted to share the recipe below. It's also super easy to make at home.
Mocktail Recipe: Ginger Beer Fresh Muddled Blackberry juice Lime for garnish It's so difficult to eat healthy during the first three months of pregnancy. I don't know about you, but I have a hard time finding items to eat due to my nausea and sensitive nose that's equivalent of a drug dog. A healthy grilled salmon and salad sounds great in theory but all it takes is for me to get one good look or whiff of it to send me praising the porcelain goddess. I hit my twelve week benchmark tomorrow with high hopes of losing this nauseous feeling for good. As I have progressively began to feel better and better I have been trying my best to opt for healthier choices at dinner time. The hubs and I went out to dinner last night to La Charcuteria and I ordered this delicious kale caesar salad while he ordered a Korean fried chicken sandwich, which I will admit I ate half of, thanks for sharing hubby.
